5 Ways to Save on Monthly Subscriptions
Monthly subscriptions add up.
Now more than ever people are looking for ways to tighten their monthly outgoings.
It can be an eye-opening exercise to sit down and calculate the amount you spend each month on subscriptions, whether that be for your business or pleasure.
There are many ways to get excellent results for your business using free tools.
Here are a few of the favourites that I use (no affiliate links, just recommendations).

It’s Canva Canva and Canva all the way for me when it comes to creating graphics. The free version is a super-duper way to create content that stands out. You can upload your own graphic/photos or use one from their templates. You can then jazz it up by adding elements, resizing or overlaying text.
You can change the colours in Canva templates to reflect your own brand colours. This helps you really stand out. If you had a designer design your brand logo you can ask them for the colour codes and Canva allows you enter those codes.
Another cool feature to ensure your brand stays consistent throughout your social platforms, is that you can resize images in the relevant platform’s dimensions. There is nothing worse than posting to Twitter with a Facebook sized graphic - it just doesn’t work!
The paid version of Canva resizes automatically but you can do it manually in the free version.
2. If you don’t have the money to hire a professional to design your logo, you don’t need to go to a subscription website to find good-quality images. You can instead visit a website such as Pixabay where you can search for photos to suit the nature of your business.
A lot of the images are free to use for commercial purposes, but you should always check this before using.
If you feel a picture is too generic, you can upload it to Canva and put your own branding on it, as above.
For example, you can blur the background, drag and drop your logo onto it, maybe add a nice quote and hey presto you have your own unique graphic.
3. If you like to read ebooks either for educational or personal purposes you can sign up for Scribd free version. You can access many features through this site instead of paying a monthly fee to read books on other sites.
AND there’s no limit to the number of titles you can read. Simply browse your favourite category to access ebooks, some free audio, PDFs, literary papers and much more!
Scribd is a great way to get your monthly dose of reading without a hefty subscription.
4. Snapseed for editing your photos.
I have the Snapseed app on my iphone and find it easy to use on the go for editing photos for social media. You can crop, add text, and change backgrounds with this handy app.
When you are finished editing you simply save to your camera and upload to whichever channel you want! It is that easy! I love Snapseed!
5. Emotional Training – Looking after children’s emotional wellness is so important. I developed free resources on my website to support children verbalise what they are feeling.
To me this is the basis of emotional wellbeing, being able to understand what it is you are feeling because when you can, you can then use a tool like EFT to work through those feelings.
EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique is a wonderful tool that most children take to quickly and easily. Its aim is to take the charge from those feelings that can otherwise cause overwhelm or worse still get repressed.
Its about firstly identifying the feeling and then releasing its charge.
You can grab a free EFT lesson here.
So if you are trying to cut back on your monthly subscriptions but don’t want to feel like you are missing out, grab a cuppa, a savings calculator, check what subscriptions you really need, and start making sure your money is working for you!
To your financial health!
